A Night of Mystery: Panel Discussion and Q&A In-Person
St. Catharines Public Library's LitFest returns to the Performing Arts Centre stage for a thrilling panel discussion featuring four talented mystery authors. Join the St. Catharines Public Library for A Night of Mystery where Eva Jurczyk, Elizabeth Renzetti, Kate Hilton, and Samantha M. Bailey will discuss all things murder mysteries, plot twists, and their latest works!
The panel discussion will be followed by a Q&A and book signing. Bring your book or purchase one at the event from our friends from Someday Books.
While A Night of Mystery is free to attend, we encourage a pay-what-you-can donation to support future SCPL LitFest events!

Eva Jurczyk was born in Katowice, Poland and wound up halfway around the world in a Canadian city that often masquerades as New York in the movies. As her day job, she buys books, building library collections for the University of Toronto Libraries, and by night she writes mystery novels including the best-selling The Department of Rare Books and Special Collections and her latest book, 6:40 to Montreal. She lives in Toronto with her husband and son.
Kate Hilton is a bestselling Canadian writer. She is the co-author of the Quill & Packet mystery series; the most recent title, Widows and Orphans, was published in 2025. Her fiction includes the forthcoming City of the Muse (2026), as well as The Hole in the Middle, Just Like Family, and Better Luck Next Time. When not writing, Kate maintains an active psychotherapy practice, with a particular focus on personal reinvention and life transitions. She lives with her family in Toronto.
Elizabeth Renzetti is a bestselling Canadian author and journalist. She has worked for the Globe and Mail as a reporter, editor, and columnist. In 2020, she won the Landsberg Award for her reporting on gender equality. She is the author of the essay collection Shrewed: A Wry and Closely Observed Look at the Lives of Women and Girls and the novel Based on a True Story. Her book What She Said: Conversations about Equality was a national bestseller in 2024. She lives in Toronto with her family.
Samantha M. Bailey is the USA TODAY, Amazon Charts, and #1 international bestselling author of WOMAN ON THE EDGE, WATCH OUT FOR HER, A FRIEND IN THE DARK, and HELLO, JULIET. She was a finalist for Canada Reads 2025. Samantha's books have sold in twelve countries and have been optioned for TV and film. She lives in Toronto, where she can usually be found tapping away at her computer or curled up on her couch with a book. Samantha's currently working on her next psychological suspense.
